Intensive Monitoring & Management of Life Threatening Cardiac Conditions
The Acute Cardiovascular Care Unit (ACCU) is a highly specialised unit comparable to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) dedicated to the intensive monitoring and management of patients with acute, unstable, life threatening cardio renal pulmonary conditions.
Our dedicated ACCU has five fully equipped beds with cardiac monitors, ventilators, and defibrillators designed to stabilise and manage patients presenting with the most critical and time sensitive cardiovascular emergencies. Every clinical decision is guided by the goal of rapid diagnosis, aggressive intervention, and minimising delays in accessing life saving care.
Our ACCU is equipped to stabilise and manage a wide range of acute, unstable, and potentially life-threatening reversible conditions — rapidly assessed and aggressively managed by our specialist team.
Management of STEMI, NSTEMI, and Unstable Angina with haemodynamic instability — with rapid risk stratification, pharmacological stabilisation, and expedited transfer for primary PCI where indicated.
Intensive haemodynamic monitoring and support for patients with acute pump failure — including vasopressor and inotropic therapy, fluid management, and continuous cardiac output assessment.
Emergency management of acute decompensated heart failure with or without pulmonary oedema — including NIV/ventilatory support, diuresis, vasodilator therapy, and continuous monitoring.
Haemodynamically significant pulmonary embolism requiring intensive monitoring, anticoagulation, thrombolysis assessment, and haemodynamic support — managed under close specialist supervision.
Urgent assessment, haemodynamic stabilisation, and blood pressure control for suspected acute aortic dissection — with expedited imaging and timely transfer for definitive surgical management.
Intensive management of massive pericardial effusion with or without cardiac tamponade — including haemodynamic monitoring and preparation for urgent pericardiocentesis as clinically indicated.
Rapid management of hypertensive emergencies and urgencies — including uncontrolled and resistant hypertension — with IV anti-hypertensive therapy, end-organ assessment, and close blood pressure titration.
Continuous cardiac monitoring and management of haemodynamically significant arrhythmias — including ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, complete heart block, and unstable SVT — with defibrillation and anti-arrhythmic therapy.
Emergency management of acute valvular dysfunction — including severe acute mitral regurgitation, aortic regurgitation, and prosthetic valve emergencies — requiring intensive haemodynamic support and urgent specialist review.
Every action in our ACCU is guided by three core clinical objectives rapid diagnosis, decisive intervention, and full functional recovery.
Expeditious early diagnosis and swift stabilisation of unstable patients presenting with life threatening conditions. Our team works against the clock reducing institutional delays and ensuring every patient reaches the right intervention at the right time.
Execution of urgent, aggressive cardiovascular-renal-pulmonary intervention management — guided by clinical evidence and specialist expertise. For patients requiring primary PCI, our team facilitates rapid transfer to cath lab-capable hospitals with contractual agreements in place.
Restore patients to their optimal functional level through comprehensive cardiovascular, renal, and pulmonary intervention — focused on reversible conditions where intensive care can meaningfully change the clinical outcome and improve long-term quality of life.
Our five-bed ACCU is equipped with ICU grade technology to support continuous, intensive monitoring and life-sustaining intervention for every patient in our care.
All ACCU beds are positioned within direct sight of the nursing station, allowing continuous visual and electronic monitoring at all times ensuring immediate response to any clinical deterioration.
